One of the many joys of my job is the opportunity I have to meet some incredible people, doing amazing work around the UK. During February and March I spent 3 evenings with our friends from Transforming Communities Warwickshire. I ran 2 evenings of training on Abundant Life courses, Strong and Tranquility and 1 on Mentoring in Schools. One was a Youth Worker at the local Church, one was from Germany, one from Brazil and one from South Africa. Not only was it a huge amount of fun, with the occasional “lost in translation” moment, but it was also really exciting as they talked about how they could use the training not only whilst they were in the UK but also how they could use it as they returned to their native countries.
Around the same time I received an email from Urban Saints about “The Difference” discipleship course that I wrote last year:
“I just thought that you would be encouraged to hear that there is a group in Australia using The Difference course. We decided to send them the content electronically in the end (postage costs were prohibitive) nevertheless it’s great to know your work has now gone international!”
As well as feeling very humbled, it was also a timely reminder of Jesus’ call to “go into all the earth” (Matthew 28) and to be his witnesses “to the very ends of the earth” (Acts 1). Whist there are no plans for Reality to become an international charity, I love that these things have just happened entirely unplanned (by us). Over the years a number of people have spoken words about Reality’s reach going beyond Leicester and indeed beyond the UK, clearly this is part of those words being fulfilled.
